It’s the End of the Year As We Know It!

Best news of the day?  I was WRONG!  Only 33 days of school left!  Just like that, an entire week of school disappeared for me today (considering just yesterday I thought there were 38 days left!).  So, I’m ready.  I owe it to my kids to end the year with a bang, so May is going to be a bLaSt!    Since we had a whopping ZERO snow days, we’re actually going to finish our entire reading series in April!  Crazy, right?!  I really had to think what I was going to do to occupy, engage, and educate my students during one of the most difficult months of the school year.  I mean, we’re already getting a little burnt out…I’m pretty sure they’ll be toast if I don’t perform acrobatics and circus stunts on a daily basis come May.  Anyway.  Today, I put together a little calendar of my end-of-the-year activities… EOYcalendar The first week of May is going to be dedicated to DERBY DAYS!  The actual unit is a work-in-progress, but will be completely usable no matter if you’re from the great state of Kentucky or not.  Watch for it to hit my TpT shop by the end of next week 🙂 Then, we’re off to see the Wizard!  The Wizard of Oz was definitely one of my favorite thematic units from last year, and since I didn’t get to it in March, we are soooooo doing it in May!  Even better?  Made for 1st Grade made a whole amazing pack of centers that will go with this.  LOVE. image        image And, to wrap up the year, it’s swine timeCharlotte’s Web is probably one of my most cherished childhood reads.  LOVE. IT.  I can’t wait to share it with my firsties as a read-aloud.  I created a whole pack filled with activities suited for my kiddos, and plan to combine it with Amanda’s amazing activities and Deanna’s farm unit.  Seriously, I can’t wait.  Slide1 Slide2 Eeeh!  I can almost smell summertime.  Kind of.  Well, not really.  It’s kind of hard to smell summer when the breeze has a wind-chill.  Maybe I’ll get that snow day yet! Happy Hump Day!!!!
