This a BUNDLE of low-prep activities to use with CVCe words, Beginning Blends, Ending Blends, Beginning Digraphs, Ending Digraphs, R-Controlled Vowels, and Vowel Teams. They were designed with the Science of Reading in mind. Their purpose is to provide students with opportunities that help with orthographic mapping, segmenting, and connecting letters to sounds (spelling). They are the perfect phonemic awareness activities, as they focus on listening for sounds, connecting those sounds to letters, and spelling the sounds.

The focus of each activity page is to provide students with opportunities to segment and spell words that all contain a common spelling pattern.

How to Use: The student is presented a picture cue. She segments the word aloud and connects it to the segmenting circles by pointing, dotting, smashing a ball of play doh, etc. Then, she can spell the sounds she hears by writing the grapheme in the circle.

Who will benefit from this resource? This activity is primarily for students in pre-k, TK, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade who are working on phonemic awareness and connecting letters to the sounds the hear with graphemes.

Materials: Printable worksheets, dotters/counters/play doh (or whatever you want to use to visually represent the segmentation of the word), clear pocket sleeve and dry erase marker (if you want to reuse the worksheets), pencil
