Today we read The Ugly Pumpkin today by Dave Horowitz. Â It’s a great book to transition from October to November and can lead to a great discussion about kindness, differences, and how characters can change throughout the course of a book. Â Because the story line is so simple, it’s easy for firsties to recognize the change and is a good starting point for introducing this concept.
Becks’ interpretation of The Ugly Pumpkin:
I love the expression on The Ugly Pumpkin’s face and how Becks paid attention to that detail!
Becks also went on a little noun hunt using a page from Clipboard Classroom Activities. Â He looked for words and pictures of nouns in the book.
Tomorrow, he will read the story to me and then we’ll complete a little adjective activity. Â I did this with my class a few years back.
And, we’ll make this super simple craftivity:
You can find the activities above (and more!) in my Oh So Thankful activity pack. Â You can purchase it as an individual pack or as part of the November Fun Pack bundle.
I can’t believe we’re even in November and that these activities are relevant! Â Crazy! Â We’ll be hearing jingle bells soon enough!
Happy Tuesday!
