I really want a midcentury modern sofa to sit between the two windows. I can just see us cozied up there reading and studying and doing school stuff.   This is something we don’t currently own, but I’ve been Craiglisting my little heart out in search of something that will fit the bill, since new ones run around $2000.  {Sidenote: Found a tufted one in ‘excellent’ condition on Craiglist.  Refurbished recently.  $185.  Sold.  Packed up the fam and journeyed into downtown Cincinnati to check it out.   Upon inspection, it was soaking WET.  They’d left it out in the rain the night before, but ‘just now realized it!’  The cushions were soaked and the ‘refurbishing’ had been done three years prior by a previous owner.  Not true.  Original fabric, sagging cushions, dingy.  I WAS SO MAD!  I just hate being taken advantage of!  We left without purchasing, obviously.}

The IKEA Expedit shelving unit is currently housing toys and books in Becks’ bedroom, but will move downstairs to house books, manipulatives, and school supplies.  Bins and baskets are aplenty here, too, so they won’t be purchased.  

The window wall will be painted (maybe) from one of the colors shown above.  It will be an accent wall, as I want all the other walls to be white.  Right now, much like the majority of the house, they’re painted builder’s grade beige-ish.  Blah.  Looking forward to seeing them go.  I want pops of color throughout the room, via accessories and such.  

I want to flank the windows with patterned panels.  The ones shown above are from IKEA and are $14.99 for two.  What a deal!  They’re also 98′ long – a must-have for the high ceilings and tall windows.

Between the windows, I want a gallery wall of square-framed prints.  The frames pictured above are the RIBBA 9x9s from IKEA.  The possibilities for what I can frame are endless.  

I collect vintage blue Ball mason jars of various shapes and sizes.  I want to use them to store various writing utensils.  Picked up the two pictured above at a local antique mall yesterday.  Six bucks a piece and one was filled with old, vintage marbles.  LOVE.

Fortunately, we already own the criss cross desk and Pottery Barn vintage inspired stools (a Craiglist find last summer) where Becks is sitting above.  He actually said to me, “You’re going to make me do a lot of paperwork here, aren’t you?” Ha!  I cracked up!  We may end up painting the desk and we will definitely be replacing the handles – and not just because the one in the picture is falling off!  They’re so sharp that I’ve cut my leg on them before.  

The reclaimed wood shelves will be made from old skids we already have on hand.  We’ll just need to purchase brackets to put them up.  The ones above are from West Elm.  

So, there you have it.  If your granny happens to be selling a midcentury modern sofa from back in the day, holla.  Just as long as it hasn’t been sitting out in the rain 🙂
