First of all, Hellooooo, PowerPoint!  Why haven’t I been using you ALL ALONG?! No, really.  I had no idea how much easier it is to use PP to design my activities.  Love. It.  If you’re not using PP, totally give it a shot!  I’ve recently upgraded to Office 2010 and am really impressed with it 🙂

Anyway, Happy Fourth of July to all of you!  It’s looking like rain here, which is probably going to interfere with our plans for the day (parade, cookout, the pool…).  Dangit. 

So, I’ve been about 12 kinds of tied up with summertime activities and icky old grad school, which makes me want to growl anytime I think about it.  The good news is that there’s only a week and half left of my second class, and then it’s off until September.  And then only four months after that I’ll have my masters. Woo hoo!  Then I am so done with school.  At least for awhile. A long while. 

Amidst the craziness of grad school, vacations, and dust {still refinishing the hardwood upstairs}, I’ve had a smidgeon bit of time to work on my upcoming activities to kick off my year in first grade, which I’m getting a little excited about.  {I’m not going to lie, I visited my building on Friday to pick up some curriculum and I’m pretty sure I about had a panic attack realizing there was only a month left before I’ll return to that place!  Seriously, my stomach was in knots and my breathing was not normal!} 

But, I feel a little bit  more at ease, knowing that I will supplement my first week with lots of Fun for Firsties activities!  One of the games we’ll play as an icebreaker during our first few days together is Find-A-Friend.  Click on the picture below to download a gameboard.
