So, you’re an amazing educator with incredible ideas to share. You’ve considered starting a blog – others have even pushed you to write because dangit, you’re creative! but you’re not sure where to start – or if it’s worth the time and effort to invest in on top of all of the commitments that you have.
Or, maybe you’re not an educator but have a niche that others would find interesting – social justice, food, travel, mental health, parenting, marriage, makeup, style – the list could go on and on! I would be more than willing to bet you have something to offer and could easily find an audience who would just LOVE your content!
Fall into one of those two categories? Then, this post is for you!

So, let’s dive right in!
HOSTING AND DOMAIN NAME
You will need a hosting site and a domain name.
Head over to Blue Host to do both and follow the instructions detailed below.
PURCHASE A PACKAGE.
Tip: You’ll save money by purchasing one for a full year!
NAME YOUR BLOG!
What will you call your new blog?! This part is fun! Choose a name and type it into the box to see if it’s available.
SELECT A THEME.
Pick a theme (you can always change this later…or have your site designer set one up for you).
Be patient for a few minutes while Blue Host sets up your site for you!
That’s it! You just created a Word Press Blog!
You can get started blogging right away after you log into your Word Press account, though the process of blogging is a post for another day. Here’s a teensy little snapshot of where to get started if you’re ready to jump right in, though:
Guess what? You officially own your own little piece of the internet and are ready to share all the things!
>>> A few things to note <<<
Be sure to check your email to verify the WhoIs component of this process in order for your site to go live.
It will likely take Blue Host a little bit to populate your blog into the World Wide Web, so don’t be alarmed if you type your new address into the search bar and it generates a page that looks like this:
Now, you’re very likely going to want to pretty it up! This part is out of my wheelhouse, as it involves fancy coding and lots of knowhow that I do not, in fact, know how to do! But, I do work with an incredible site designer who knows how to make your blog functional and beautiful according to your every little desire. Her name is Becca and she is the owner and designer at Jumping Jax Designs. I have worked with her for years and her work is fantastic. She can translate our vision into a work of art. In fact, I think you’ll notice a facelift here at The Inspired Apple pretty soon and Becca will be the brains behind it all! She’s in high demand, so be sure to get on her list ASAP if this is something you’re interested in.
What do you think? Are you ready to start a blog! What questions do you have for me?
