I have had several emails and comments about the Long Vowel poem that I posted on Babbling Abby way back when, asking if I had created any similar poems. Guess what? You’re in luck!
I haven’t completed a long vowel poem for each vowel , but here is what I have so far. Honestly, they’re nothing special and totally created on a whim with very little poetic thought put into them! I am sooooo not a poet!
This isn’t a poem, but we’ve been talking about long /a/a ai and ay this week, and I drew up these little couples quickly during our lesson one day. I told them this whole story about how “a” and “a” are twins. One is married to “i” and the other to “y.” Then I go on and on about how bossy the a’s are to the men in their lives, and how the “a’s” always put themselves first. They even make their husband letters stay quiet and only say their names. Probably not a very original story, but the kids like it 🙂
Feel free to use these in your classroom however you’d like. {However, please do not republish them for sale in any manner. Thanks 🙂 }
