Photo Dump and Anchor Charts, Oh My!

… But, first a little photo dump … Our Read Across America week was a success!  We Seuss-ed it up every day last week, reading as many Seuss books as we could get our hands on, all while creating as many craftivities as we could, too!  None of these are new, but my kiddos absolutely adored them. I have no idea where this  activity came from, but my teaching teammate gave me the pattern for the moustache.  You know I love a good moustache.  Can’t wait to see The Lorax that’s in the theatre right now…

Here’s a pic of what our morning work looks like these days.  It’s very simple and adaptable to whatever skills I’m looking to reinforce on a particular day.  The only thing that the kids consistently have to respond to is the problem of the day and the fact family.  {The copy below is the one I project onto our Smart Board, and then go over with the kids.  The kids pick up a blank copy when they unpack in the morning.}

Some of our St. Patty’s Day Packet O’Fun center activities.  They *love* to say, “Blarney!”

What our Math Content Board looks like right now.  I capitalized that like it was formal or something.  It’s really not.  Just posted on a bulletin board in our classroom for easy reference.

And, some literacy anchor charts, recently illustrated.  Also, my kids cannot for the life of them keep author and illustrator straight!  I’m kicking myself for not putting these up sooner.  Doh.

{I get a lot of questions about the materials I use to make my anchor charts.  These were made using a combo of Sharpies, Crayola crayons, and Mr. Sketch Markers.  They’re made on scrapbook paper.} Lastly, we are busing learning addition and subtraction within 40 right now, somewhat complicated by our new standards and the fact that Math in Focus goes a little more in depth than necessary according to the CCSS.  One of our fab second grade teachers had this super cute poem up in her room, and I just had to snag it.  I haven’t displayed it in my classroom yet because we’re really not supposed to be teaching algorithms at this point.  Regardless, it’s sooooo cute!  {The author is unknown.}

The best part of this week (and next)?!  They’re both 4-day weeks!  Eeh!  Then, we’re in single digit school days until Spring Break!  LOVE IT. Off to vote for my fav American Idol – hands down Phillip Phillips, if you must know 😉  He’s going to be the DMB of the next generation!!!!!

Hope you enjoyed my photo dump!
