One of my favorite new book releases this holiday season is Santa Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins. Santa Bruce is about a grumpy, yet oh-so-lovable bear who is mistaken for Santa. Though he’d rather be hibernating, he pulls through for the forest animals and  gives presents to all. I created a free Santa Bruce craft that you can download today!

Picture books have my heart. They’re such a great way to help little learners relate to the world, inside and outside the classroom. Santa Bruce is no different. It shares the spirit of Christmas, along with the underlying theme of doing things to benefit others (even when we don’t want to do them). Plus, there’s there a great opportunity to teach voice and dialogue to your students!

I love using different voices when I’m speaking for different characters throughout a read-aloud. Not only does it help my students understand who’s speaking, but it also helps give personalities to the characters. They LOVE this. Students also love playing the parts! I created a simple craft that pairs with this book. All templates are included and it’s FREE!
