If you’re a fan of the nineties or just need some new activities to incorporate into the beginning of the school year, you’re going to LOVE this back to school theme! Cara and I spent many a Google Hang Out planning out all of the fun you’re about to see, and even spent a fabulous afternoon with some amazing second grade teachers sharing all things ((Throw) Back to School – dressed as Wayne and Garth, no less.
We created these activities to help you begin building a strong community of learners right from the first day of school. As a classroom teacher, you hold the power to cultivate relationships with and between your students, establish a safe and responsive learning environment, and ignite passion and enthusiasm for learning through engagement. And the key to success in each of these areas? The building and maintenance of a positive classroom culture!
The TWENTY-SIX activities, icebreakers, and games were designed to help you do just that…
Model behaviors
Set expectations
Establish procedures, routines, and rules
Encourage team-building
Facilitate friendships and camaraderie
Support and encourage individuality
Build and enhance teacher-student and student-student relationships
Here’s a small sample of what you’ll find inside. (And if you want to see every activity included, be sure to check out the preview HERE).
You can snag all of the above pictured activities and a whole bunch more in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop RIGHT HERE.
