End of the Year Resources

Y’all.  Seriously.  There are nine weeks left of school.  NINE WEEKS!  Eeeh! It’s officially the end of the year.
How did we get here and where on Earth did the school year go?!?!  I would have to say this has – by far – been the fastest school year on record.  In so many ways, I needed this year to be fast and busy.  I needed to remember why I became a teacher and where I saw my future in education headed.  I desperately needed to love my job.  And the best news?  I DO!  This year has been a blast.  I have learned so much and I already can’t wait to start fresh in the fall.
But, back to fact that there are NINE WEEKS left in the school year.  I would imagine that most of you have about the same, so you’re probably gearing up for end of year benchmarks and standardized assessments.  After Spring Break, of course 🙂
It was always around end-of-the-year report card time that I would get a little anxious as I reflected back on my year.  Did I teach everything I was supposed to?  Did my kids meet the benchmark?  Did I cover every standard?  Were there gaps that I missed?  Did my kids learn anything?!

Though I’m not doing report cards this year, I still feel such a sense of urgency to make sure my RTI kiddos are getting all the extra support possible before the end of the year.  Currently, I’m doing modified activities given to me by the K teacher.  I had the idea to make a little review pack that I could do quickly with them each day before working on those activities.
Hence, The 20 Day Check-Up – a resource designed to review and reinforce foundational reading skills as identified in the Common Core State Standards.  I made one for K and for 1st.  Each pack consists of 20 days worth of review activities, addressing standards in the Reading: Foundational Skills and Language strands.

My hope is that these packs will review and reinforce foundational skills and also to help teachers identify gaps that they can easily reteach during teacher-led literacy centers or RTI.
And, good news, second grade teachers – I hope to have a similar resource out for you this weekend!
If you click on the above pics, you can see a sample of the review activities in downloadable preview.
Have a good night, y’all!
PS.  NINE WEEKS!  NINE WEEKS!  NINE WEEKS!!!!!!!!
