Check out the ‘If This Book Could Talk’ condensed book report idea where students can write a simplified book review! Included are templates, photographs and easy-to-follow directions that are a cinch for teachers to implement and great for students to complete after reading their favorite books!

If This Book Could Talk

So, after your kids read a book, provide them with the If This Book Could Talk printable speech bubble. You’ll copy it double-sided with the interior of the speech bubble that reads, It Would Say…

On the inside of this foldable, your kiddos will write form the perspective of the book and tell why the book thinks it would be a good pick for a reader!

As shown above, if you’re using this activity with a skinnier chapter book, you can tape or glue the speech bubble to a popsicle stick so that it will stand supported once slid into the book pages.

If you’re using this with younger kiddos with wider/flatter books, you can simply slide the foldable into the pages without the popsicle stick.

While it would work great ANY time of year, this resource would be a huge asset to use during the week of Read Across America, to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Celebration of Learning nights, open house, and more! It’s always a good time to celebrate reading and books!
